This temple is the heart of Krishna bhakti in Northeast India. It was built in the 1700s by King Bhagyachandra after he had a divine dream of Krishna asking him to build this temple.

When the king was in trouble, he prayed to Krishna, and Krishna came in his dream and gave him strength. After his victory in war, he built this temple as a thank you to the Lord.
